Today, I practiced cutting to the beat in the editing software that I am going to use to edit my final music video- Adobe Premiere. By using stock footage and a Calvin Harris instrumental, I was able to practice cutting to the beat and also just gaining overall experience in using the editing software adobe premiere. I think it's rather helpful doing practice tasks similar to the one I did today as it really let me get familiar with editing footage and dealing with the minor problems that I came across such as cutting perfectly to the beats of the music and finding a consistent rhythm. The final result was successful but it did need mending and going over again. I learned that the software allows me to zoom into the backing music and see the sound waves which allowed me to able to cut the video according to the beat very, very precisely- far better than using the naked eye.
There was also positives; I found myself quite comfortable and found that the software was relatively straight forward and not complicated which means I may not run into as many problems when editing my final product as that would be disastrous because my time for this project is finite and repeatedly having problems when editing would slow me down and have a large effect on my final piece. Also apart from just learning to use the editing software, it was good to learn what makes a music video be of a higher quality and not just basic but the simple things that make a music video sustain a high quality of production.
